6 Music Live At The British Library

Jarvis Cocker and Mary Anne Hobbs come live from the British Library ahead of the John Peel Lecture with Brain Eno, which follows this programme.

Jarvis joins the ranks of the British Library researchers as he finds our how simple it actually is to enrol for a Reader Pass. Due to his relaxed tones, he also gets to have a go on the British Library tannoy announcement system.

During the show, both Mary Anne and Jarvis are given unique access to the written archives of the British Library as well as journeying deep into the secret basement where the audio archives are held.

Matt Everitt joins to explore the role of this audio archive and the race to digitise and preserve in the face of deteriorating media and obsolete technologies.
