Debbie Harry, the iconic singer with the hugely successful American pop rock act Blondie, presents an hour of her favourite music.

Blondie had been making music and enjoying reasonable success since 1974, but with the release of their Parallel Lines album in 1978, they became a global phenomenon, and lead singer Debbie Harry became the poster girl for millions of people around the world. They enjoyed continued global success until the band splintered and split in 1982.

After a few years as a solo artist, Debbie got back together with Blondie in 1997, and the band are still active today. They are set to release their new album Ghosts of Download later this year.

In this show Debbie includes some of her all time favourite artists such as The Ramones and The Velvet Underground, whilst also showcasing some of her current favourite music from the likes of James Blake and Calvin Harris.

They became one of the most successful crossover dance acts at the end of the 90s and into the early 2000s. They are currently working on their new album, though no release date is set as yet.

The Glasgow 4 piece formed in 2002, and exploded into the mainstream with their 2nd single Take Me Out, a huge hit in 2004. The self-titled debut followed and won that years Mercury Music Prize. They released the follow up You Could Have It So Much Better the following year, but it was another 4 years before the 3rd album Tonight: Franz Ferdinand arrived in 2009.

Electronic music pioneer Gary Numan, the man who changed the face of music forever at the end of the 70's, presents an hour of his favourite music.

When Gary appeared on Top of the Pops in 1979, the world was barely prepared for him with his androgynous, almost robotic look and futuristic music. He is a true musical pioneer, taking the formerly niche and experimental electronic music and catapulting it into the mainstream. His influence is still ever apparent today, and he's cited by numerous artists including Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Prince, The Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Este from the BBC's Sound of 2013 winners LA 4 piece Haim, presents a playlist of some of her favourite songs. She is the eldest of the 3 sisters who are the core of the band.

Their sound has been described as nu-folk-meets-nineties-R&B.

The 3 sisters formed the band in 2006 and spent the next 5 years playing local venues. After playing in other bands they decided to take Haim more seriously.

After playing supporting acts such as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Henry Clay People and Ke$ha, they released their debut ep Forever in 2012. This let to a deal with Polydor records. They played their debut UK shows at the end of 2012, and in January they topped the BBCs Sound of 2013 poll.

Their debut album Days Are Gone comes out at the end of the month.

He talks about his deep regret over saying some nasty things about Sir Paul McCartney a few years ago. He also declares his love for Strawberry Switchblade, and tells how Muddy Waters was a favourite on the Mary Chain tour compilation.

The Jesus and Mary Chain rose to prominence in 1985 with much critical acclaim. Their debut single 'Upside Down' topped the indie chart, and their debut album 'Psychocandy' followed later that year. Bobby Gillespie had been a member but left ahead of the release of the album to concentrate on Primal Scream.

The band released 5 more studio albums before separating in 1999. They got back together in 2007 to play some live dates.

John Cooper Clarke20120219Performance poet John Cooper Clarke shares some of his favourite music, including songs from Howlin' Wolf, James Brown, The Only Ones, Brenda Lee and 6 Music's own Huey Morgan, performing with his band The Fun Lovin' Criminals.

John first became famous at the end of the 70s during the punk scene and he has since become known as the 'punk poet' and 'the bard of Salford'. In 1978 he toured with Bill Nelson's band Be Bop Deluxe, and was signed by Epic Records.

He has toured with Linton Kwesi Johnson, and has performed alongside Joy Division, The Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks, The Fall, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Elvis Costello amongst many others.

The Arctic Monkeys printed his poem Out of Control Fairground inside their single Fluorescent Adolescent in 2007, and Alex Turner of the band says he takes inspiration for his lyrics from John's work.

Mike Pickering was a DJ at Manchester's famous Hacienda club and worked for Factory Records, where he signed the Happy Mondays and James. He now works as Head of A&R for Sony BMG's Columbia label, where he's signed the likes of Calvin Harris and the Ting Tings.

Mike Skinner20120325Mike Skinner of The Streets is the next artist to share his 6 Music playlist, which will include tracks from Benny Banks, Lady Leshurr, Man Like Me, Mord Fustang, Dillon Francis and J Jean, amongst others.

The Streets first broke through in 2001 with the top 20 single, Has It Come To This? Debut album Original Pirate Material followed to much critical acclaim and commercial success. They achieved 12 top 40 singles, and topped the chart in summer 2004 with Dry Your Eyes.

They also topped the album chart with A Grand Don't Come For Free in 2004 and again in 2006 with The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living. But last year, Mike released the band's fifth studio album, Computers and Blues, and announced that he was putting the band on hiatus to pursue other projects. His book, The Story of The Streets, is published this month.

Placebo's Brian Molko2013120820140105 (6M)Lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of Placebo Brian Molko presents an hour of his favourite music, which includes Radiohead, TV On The Radio, Sigur Ros and Sonic Youth.

His band Placebo formed in 1994 and exploded into the mainstream during the Britpop era with the self-titled debut album which reached number 5, still their highest charting album to date. They have developed a cult following across Europe, much of that based around Brian himself. They recently released their 7th album Loud Like Love.

He is known for his androgynous image and his nasal, high pitched vocals, and is the subject of much adoration from fans. The band explore Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transsexual cultural themes in their music.

Here Brian shares his admiration for some of his influences and peers, in particular Radiohead and his favourite band, Sonic Youth.

Hailing from Newburgh New York, the 43-year-old innovator has been a permanent fixture in the poetry scene since the mid-'90s. He's also won awards as a beat-minded actor, filmmaker and public speaker and has performed everywhere from the White House to the Sydney Opera Center and the Louvre. He curates a selection of his favourite music including Lou Bond, DJ Elmo, Thelonius Monk and Nine Inch Nails.

Suede2013121520131222 (6M)Frontman Brett Anderson and Bass guitarist Mat Osman from Suede present an hour of their favourite music, which includes tracks from Black Sabbath, Interpol, Ultravox, Toy and The Walker Brothers.

Suede formed in London in 1989 and by 1992 were attracting much attention from the music press, some lauding them as 'The best new band in Britain'. Their self titled debut album came out the following year and topped the chart. It went on to win the Mercury Music Prize. Although guitarist Bernard Butler left during the recording of their 2nd album, they maintained a highly successful career though their next 3 albums. By the time of their 5th album A New Morning in 2002, their star had waned and the album was a commercial disappointment. They disbanded the following year.

They reformed in 2010 for a series of live performances, which eventually led to a new album Bloodsports earlier this year.
