Talk by C. E. Carrington
Mr. Carrington suggests that there are two kinds of history: the history that everyone forgets, and the history that everyone remembers. He has made a special study of the stories that do not get into history books-for instance, stories of Robin Hood and Drake's game of bowls-and believes they are usually founded on fact. For him, ' history begins with Alfred and the cakes.'
