Women who have lost a son or daughter reflect on the tenderness of Michelangelo's Piet\u00e0.

One of the most enduring images of Jesus is Michelangelo's 'Pietà' in St Peter's, Rome. Arising from a complex religious story, the tenderness of the intense human sorrow it expresses is inescapable. It seems to touch everyone, religious or not.

For Good Friday morning, we hear from women who know the terrible pain of losing a son or daughter, and respond to the compassion which the Pietà evokes.
