On 21 March, 1747, Bach was 62. Two months later, he made a famous visit to the Court of Frederick the Great of Prussia, at Potsdam. Donald Macleod continues his look at masterpieces from the last decade of Bach's life with the collection that resulted from this occasion, The Musical Offering.

Performers include Leonard Hokanson (harpsichord), Kurt Redel (flute), Soloists of the Pro Arte Ensemble, Munich; and an Ensemble directed by Gottfried von der Golltz. Plus, Webern's orchestration of the Six-Part Ricercar is played by the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Pierre Boulez.

In his exploration of the profound sequence of summatory masterpieces from the last decade of Bach's life, Donald Macleod now reaches the great Mass in Bm.
