Jordi Trilla talks about being a 7 year old growing up in Spain when his father was given two barn owls by the local priest.
His father was supposed to kill the birds and give them to a friend to stuff.
Jordi was terrified of owls, but he knew that he had to rescue these creatures.
He crept downstairs at night with a flashlight and went to the box where the 2 owls were being kept.
He opened the box and released them into the night.
One flew off immediately and the other flew a little way and then sat looking at the boy.
It was a moment that changed his life which is now devoted to the protection of owls.
He was dreading his father's punishment, but his father came to his room the following night and whispered quietly, ""This is my boy.
Well done."" Rick Gough describes sitting in a wood at twilight watching for badgers, when a tawny owl landed on his head.
After a few moments, the creature realised its mistake and flew off.
But Rick says that he can remember the feeling of the claws on his head to this day, and that he sees it as a blessing of the wild.
Jenny Piper and her partner encountered a barn owl whilst driving home one evening.
It swooped down and sat in the road in front of their car for about 10 minutes and they couldn't work at why.
