Her Majesty And Her Art | 20220911 |
In a special programme to mark the sad news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen, Radio 2 looks back at the Queen's art collection. Although officially owned by the monarch, the collection was held in trust by the Queen as Sovereign for her successors and the nation.
Presented by Anneka Rice, this special programme looks at how Queen Elizabeth II transformed the display and care of the nation's art collection more than any other monarch before her.
With archive interviews and contributions from Deborah Clarke (Curator of the Diamond Jubilee Exhibition), Dr Karen Serres (Curator of the Courtauld Gallery), Martin Clayton (Curator of the Royal Collection), art critic Alastair Sooke, Desmond Shawe-Taylor (Surveyor Of The Queen's Pictures at the Royal Collection), Royal biographer Christopher Warwick, Caroline de Guitaut (Curator of Decorative Arts at the Royal Collection), Jonathan Marsden (Director of the Royal Collection) and former BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz.
