Inventing America - Sunday Feature - Jack The Dripper

Tim Marlow looks at the life, legend and legacy of Jackson Pollock, who revolutionised painting and the image of the all-American artist.

Born in the town founded by Buffalo Bill - Cody, Wyoming - Pollock relished his outlaw status but soon became the darling of the NEW YORK art world, where his shadow still looms large.

The programme features some of those who knew Pollock best and those in the art world who have responded to his daunting reputation in various ways, from abstract expressionism to pop art rejection, including Julian Schnabel, Alex Katz and Jeff Koons.
