John Lennon , Yoko Ono and Andy Peebles

This week covering the period February 1972-November 1974

' I read the papers when the pm,

Margaret Thatcher , was going to cut the BBC World

Service down. That would have been the greatest disservice to peace, love and understanding in the world.. you don't know how important it is, that the English speaking point of view, our way of life, and our whole ideals are presented by the BBC and they're the only ones that can do it... It's very important and people appreciate it all over, and not just English people living abroad, or whites living in Australia, but all the races on earth....'

The Re-emergcnce - 1980 et seq.

' I've been walking the ttreets for the last seven years. When we first moved here, we actually lived in Greenwich

Village, where all the students and the would-bes live - a few old poets and that! She

(Yoko) told me, " Yes, you can walk on the street ", but I would be walking around tense-like, waiting for somebody to say something, or jump on me, and it took me two years to unwind. I can go right out this door now, and go in a restaurant - you want to know how great that is! Or go to the movies! I mean, people come and ask for autographs or say.. Hi ", but they don't bug you.'

4: The Withdrawal - Feb 1975-Dec 1979

' But funnily enough at the end of the " Rock 'n' Roll album and on a track called Just because" which Phil Spector wanted me to sing - I didn't know it that well, you hear me saying " and so we say farewell from Record Plant West, and something flashed through my mind as I said it. " am I really saying farewell to the business? " And I looked at the cover which I'd chosen, which was a picture of me in Hamburg the first time we got there. And I thought, am I going...is this some sort of comic thine? '
