Marty Edwards on his experiences as a painter of Loyalist murals in Derry. People from all over the world come to see Free Derry, and the murals in the Bogside. It is argued that lighting will make the murals much more accessible to more people. But what about the wider picture? 23/10/2017 - Gathering On Scalp20171023

A Derry artist announces a proposal for the biggest artwork ever created in Ireland.

A proposal for what would be the biggest, and one of the most ambitious art projects ever attempted in Ireland comes from Derry artist Maurice Harron. He's the man behind some of the most iconic sculpture in the north west of NI, with works including Let the Dance Begin and Hands Across the Divide. He plans to create an 80-metre stone circle at the top of Scalp Mountain, enclosing 21 huge sculptures of men, women, children, horses, and dog, to honour the tribes and clans of the area's ancient past.

And how safe is the city centre? One man's in a critical condition in hospital after he was attacked in Newmarket Street in the early hours. It came less than a month after the death of Jordan McConomy, a teenager also attacked during a night out.

25/10/2017 - Danny Toland20171025

A tribute to Glen Barr from Danny Toland, whose father was murdered by loyalists.

Following the death of Glen Barr, former UDA leader and community worker Danny Toland gets in touch to pay tribute. "In late 1976 my father John Toland was shot dead by UFF. In the aftermath of the murder, Mr Glen Barr condemned the brutal murder carried out by the UFF on my father - an innocent man. As a result of this he received a death threat from loyalist paramilitaries".

And time to reassess the Derry's emerging night time economy after two attacks in the city. What can be done to make people feel safe? Staggered pub closing hours? More police? What about late-night buses to clear the streets faster?
