This is the story of the birth of a fatwa. We follow one British Muslim man’s attempt to have a new fatwa, or religious ruling, on organ donation issued.

Amjid Ali’s life was transformed when he received a new kidney, but he had to wait 23 years to get it because there’s a lack of Muslim donors. A recent NHS survey revealed that 38% of Muslims asked about organ donation thought that it was against their culture or religion. Amjid is determined to clear up that confusion by persuading respected Muslim scholars to issue a fatwa that will be accepted by the majority of British Muslims.
