Known as the Folk Oscars, the 2019 MG ALBA Scots Traditional Music Awards, live from Aberdeen Music Hall. The Trads are a platform for some fantastic musical performances, coupled with the glamour and excitement that comes with an awards ceremony. Amongst those playing live are top Gaelic singing trio SIAN, accompanied for the first time by a big band; folk-rockers Skerryvore; the BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, Benedict Morris; the progressive folk of Heisk; and a rare performance from the dynamic folk supergroup, Session A9. Following weeks of anticipation and a public vote, the evening will celebrate those who have influenced the traditional music scene. Hosting the evening are renowned broadcaster and musician Mary Ann Kennedy and singer Kim Carnie, who will be onstage for an evening of drama and fun as they honour the champions of the traditional music world.
