Violinist, Marianne Thorsen, viola player Lawrence Power and cellist Paul Watkins of the Nash Ensemble perform Beethoven's Trio for Strings Op 9, No 3 in Cm, in the church of St Giles, Cripplegate in London's Barbican. Written in Vienna in 1797-8.


The spirit of stride piano and the extrovert playing of legendary jazz pianists like Fats Waller and James P Johnson and the work's dedicatee Richard Rodney Bennett - inspired Turnage's piano quintet, written for the Nash Ensemble.
