Poro, Re Dell'indie [Handel Opera Cycle]

As Alexander the Great forges his way into India defeating all in his path, Poro - his latest victim considers - taking his own life for the first of several times in the opera. He is only saved by his love for Queen Cleofide, and thus ensues a tale of deception, lust, jealousy and great intrigue.

Radio 3's cycle of Handel operas continues with a performance of Poro, re dell'Indie.

Radio 3 marks the 250th anniversary of Handel's death with a complete cycle of his operas

But Queen Cleofide thinks Poro is dead, and is about to marry Alexander the Great. Poro appears at the wedding ceremony just in time to save the couple from making a big mistake, and in relief at his escape, Alexander doesn't kill anyone. But will Poro and Cleofide live happily ever after?
