Radio 3 Awards For World Music 2004



The sounds of planet earth, celebrated in a concert featuring performances from winners in the ten categories of this year's Awards.

The Poll Winners' Concert was held on Tuesday at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, hosted by Mary Ann Kennedy and Benjamin Zephaniah.

Critics' Award for Album of the Year: Rokia Traore (Mali) A special award from international critics for her album Bowmboi Middle East: Kadim al Sahir (Iraq) One of the Arab world's biggest stars Americas: Ibrahim Ferrer (Cuba) Veteran star of the Buena Vista Social Club album Club Global: DJ Dolores (Brazil) A dance set from the winner of this year's new category Africa: Daara J (Senegal) Rapping West African style Asia-Pacific: Sevara Nazarkhan (Uzbekistan) An acoustic set from one of Central Asia's top singers Boundary Crossing: Think of One (Belgium) Euro punk with horns Audience Award: to be announced on the night Europe: Ojos de Brujo (Spain) Flamenco for the 21st century.
