French-born Louise Gavan Duffy's crucial legacy in Irish language immersion education.

Chomhbhunaigh Louise Gavan Duffy Scoil Bhríde, scoil lán-Ghaelige, i 1917 in éineacht le Anne McHugh (a phós an polaiteoir Ernest Blythe). Ba í seo an chéad scoil in Éirinn, taobh amuigh den Ghaeltacht, ar éirigh léi córas lán-tumoideachais (gach ábhar a theagasc trí mheán na Gaeilge agus gach cumarsáid idir an fhoireann agus na daltaí i nGaeilge fosta) a thabhairt isteach agus ba í an eiseamláir í don iomad Gaelscoil a bunaíodh ó shin.
Céad bliain níos moille, tá oidhreacht Louise Gavan Duffy ag bláthú agus tá breis agus 55,000 dalta ag freastal ar ghaelscoileanna sa lá atá inniu ann.
Chun comóradh 100 bliain na chéad Ghaelscoile a cheiliúradh scrúdaíonn Róisín Ní Chéileachair stair agus tionchar na scoile agus saol a comhbhunaitheora tharraingtigh
