The cash he earned funded a short film, and kept him afloat while he wrote the first draft of what would become his breakthrough, debut feature God's Own Country, which was nominated for nominated Outstanding British Film at Bafta. His most recent film Ammonite stars Kate Winslet as Mary Anning, a pioneering English fossil collector in the 19th century who develops a lesbian relationship with a young woman named Charlotte Murchison.

Set in London on New Year's Eve in 1999, the film follows three 18-year-old aspiring musicians and best mates. Rza20201018A founding member of the legendary hip-hop group, Wu-Tang Clan, RZA first got involved in films when he met Jim Jarmusch, who asked him to provide the soundtrack for Ghost Dog–The Way of the Samurai. He then studied filmmaking shadowing Quentin Tarantino while composing the music for Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1. Since then, he's directed three features: the Kung-fu flick The Man with the Iron Fists and the musical Love Beats Rhymes, and now his latest film, Cut Throat City, a heist-thriller set in New Orleans' Ninth Ward.

Sally Potter20230430Sally Potter made her first 8mm film aged fourteen. She has since written and directed nine feature films, as well as many short films (including THRILLER and PLAY) and a television series, and has directed opera (Carmen for the ENO in 2007) and other live work, and she's done so by following the roads not taken by others. Her background is in choreography, music, performance art and experimental film. ORLANDO (1992), Sally Potter's bold adaptation of Virginia Woolf's classic novel, first brought her work to a wider audience. It was followed by THE TANGO LESSON (1996), THE MAN WHO CRIED (2000), YES (2004), RAGE (2009) and GINGER & ROSA (2012),and THE PARTY (2017). Her latest film, THE ROADS NOT TAKEN premiered at Berlin Film Festival in 2020.

Sally Potter is known for innovative form and risk-taking subject matter and has worked with many of the most notable cinema actors of our time including Tilda Swinton, Cillian Murphy, Javier Bardem, Chris Rock, Cate Blanchett, Julie Christie, Christina Ricci and David Oyelowo to mention a few. Her films have won over forty international awards and received both Academy Award and BAFTA nominations. She has had full career retrospectives of her film and video work at the BFI Southbank, London, MoMA, New York, and the Cinematheque, Madrid. She was awarded an OBE in 2012.

A double Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe and BAFTA winner, she has been acting since the early 90s in Hollywood, independent movies and TV. Alongside her acting work, Samantha is passionate about music and recently recorded an album, ‘Daffodils and Dirt', with XL's Richard Russell, which they will be taking on tour next year. Miranda joins her at home in her studio to talk about how the album project came about, working with Jason Pierce from Spiritualized on her directorial debut The Unloved, the playlists that get her into the character of Catherine De Medici in the Serpent Queen, what it was like being one of the few young actors to publicly speak up about Harvey Weinstein's bullying behaviour, and how she alphabetizes her record collection.

Working with his late-husband, Richard Glatzer, Wash co-wrote and co-directed the 2014 release Still Alice, starring Julianne Moore who went on to win an Oscar for her performance. After his partner Richard Glatzer was diagnosed with a form of motor neurone disease, his mobility became more and more limited. He celebrated the 2015 Oscar win in hospital with Westmoreland who asked his partner what film he wanted to do next, and using his big toe to type a response, he spelled out the letters C-O-L-E-T-T-E. A few days later his partner passed away, and it was then that Westmoreland said he must complete the project.

Wash first wrote Colette, the story of Nobel Prize-winning French novelist Sidone-Gabrielle Colette, back in 2001. The script went through 15 drafts, and three title changes before he settled on Colette which stars Keira Knightly.
