Boxing Day sees Courtney Barnett spinning three hours of her favourite tracks ahead of taking over 6 Music for the evening with archive shows, documentaries and live music.

The Australian singer-songwriter known for her witty and deadpan delivery released her debut EP, I've Got A Friend Called Emily Ferris in 2012. Her second EP, How To Carve A Carrot Into A Rose (2013) received international acclaim, taking her all around the world.

Debut album - Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit (2015) – was released to widespread acclaim, and in 2016 the musician was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards and for International Female Solo Artist at the Brits.

Courtney performed at the BBC 6 Music leg of Biggest Weekend earlier this year prior to releasing her second album - Tell Me How You Really Feel.

Originally from Bolton, the comedy actor and writer is best known for her incarnation of talking head 'Philomena Cunk' which originated on Charlie Booker’s Weekly Wipe tv series.

Due to the popularity of the character, the BBC commissioned two one-off specials fronted by Philomena; the first was BAFTA-nominated Cunk on Shakespeare and the second a festive special, Cunk on Christmas.

A five part BBC Two series, Cunk on Britain, followed earlier this year. Diane has also starred in the BBC Two comedy series Motherland opposite Anna Maxwell-Martin and Lucy Punch. The critically acclaimed show was co-written by previous Wise Woman Sharon Horgan.

They'll each present three hours of their favourite music, as well as selecting an evening's worth of programmes from the 6 Music archives.

On Christmas Eve we welcome Actor and Director Zawe Ashton to 6 Music. Zawe starred in the BBC's Wanderlust earlier this year and also recently starred in John Ridley’s 1970s political drama Guerrilla, opposite Idris Elba, Freida Pinto and Babou Ceesay. Before that, she appeared in Tom Ford’s critically acclaimed feature film Nocturnal Animals. In 2012, she was nominated for ’Best Newcomer’ for Carol Morley’s Dreams of a Life at BIFA and other notable screen credits include: Weekender, St Trinian’s II. Blitz and Dr. Who.

Zawe is also well known for playing the brilliant Vod in Channel 4's fresh Meat and she has also written a book which will be published in early 2019.

Zawe's programme takes on the theme of t a date night with the show split into 3 acts - a trip to the movies, a romantic dinner and then a some dancing. The music that she has chosen is inspired by those acts - expect music from The Cardigans next to Hanns Zimmer, some Childish Gambino and some Prince.

She is an American experimental musician, composer, performance artist, film-maker and inventor, who was married to Lou Reed. She is well-known for her innovative use of technology and was NASA's first artist-in-residence. Her two-hour show features music by artists including Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Dinah Washington, Jimmy Cliff, Beck and Lou Reed. Her curated programme choices are Lou Reed's New York Shuffle, which runs the gamut from jazz to contemporary indie to vintage rock. Originally broadcast from Lou's home, the world-renowned, avant-garde innovator co-hosted the show with music producer Hal Willner, who collaborated with Lou on the film Berlin. Laurie also picks Bob Dylan's Big Freeze, presented by Bob Harris it tells the story of Dylan's first visit to the UK during the freezing winter of 1962 - 1963; she follows this with archive music sessions from Tracy Chapman, Lou Reed and Amy Winehouse.
