Dame Cleo Laine reflects on her long and successful musical career, and considers other top female jazz singers taken from the Women in Jazz archive in Swansea - which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

There are contributions from washboard player Beryl Bryden, singers Elaine Delmar and Ottilie Patterson, composer Barbara Thompson, and saxophonist Kathy Stobart. They all reveal the particular challenges of life on the road as a female performer.
