Georgia Mann presents a week of performances by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Today's programme begins with a concert the orchestra gave in Glasgow City Halls. John Wilson conducts an all-American programme including Bernstein's Serenade with soloist Ning Feng, and Roy Harris's Symphony no.3. Plus part of a new recording of music for saxophone and orchestra, with soloist Tommy Smith.

Georgia Mann continues a week of performances by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Today's programme begins with a concert centred around Nielsen. Soprano Denise Beck and the Danish String Quartet join the strings of the orchestra for a sequence of songs and miniatures before the composer's more familiar violin Concerto and Symphony no. 3. Plus Simon Callaghan is soloist in a new recording of the Piano Concerto by Bernhard Scholz.

Georgia Mann presents this week's Opera Matinee; a performance of Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur from Vienna State Opera. The plot concerns a theatre group at the Comedie-Francaise in Paris. The leading actress, Adriana Lecouvreur is in love with Maurizio, the Count of Saxony. The Count loves her too, and wants to be with her instead of his former love, the Princess de Bouillon. When the Princess discovers her rival to be Adriana, she poisons her. Anna Netrebko and Piotr Beczala star.

Georgia Mann concludes her week of performances by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Today's programme begins with a concert which combined Bartok's folk influenced music with contributions from folk musicians, singer Nóri Kovács and Parapács. This was followed by Bartok's Music for strings, percussion and celesta. Plus more from two new recordings which have been featured across the week.
