First broadcast from 20051205 to 20051207.

At the end of a year in which countryside issues such as hunting and farming were often centre stage in the political agenda, this series gets under the skin of a rural community and provides a close-up picture of how its residents have faced up to challenges and changes over the course of the year.

The series is based around the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire - which is at the geographical centre of mainland Britain, and where rural life is as precarious as anywhere in the country.
